What to do when you lose your passport?

Passport is your national identity and acts as photo card if you don't have one. There are many steps you need to follow if you lose your passport. I am taking about Internationals holding Nepalese passport.

1. Inform the police as soon as possible and make the police report.
2. If you have lost it in some particular areas like trains, buses then inform the particular person present in the spot and later on visit the lost and found property office.

After some days if you didn't find your passport then you need to make one new one. For this you need visit the Nepalese embassy located in Canberra or mail your documents.

Documents you need:

Important: Read guidelines/instructions while filling up and printing out the application form for MRP. Format and size of the form must be correct (Please see the samples for correct format and MRP form print  for correct size PROVIDED AT THE END BELOW–  Use A4 paper but vertical length (top to bottom) of the print-covered area must be 27 cm. You need to install Adobe Acrobat Reader to print the form correctly to find the options ‘actual size’ , page scaling ‘none’ or ‘default’. If you don’t find the options “Actual Size” or “None” in the print dialogue box, please remove ticks from the option “fit to page” or any other options before printing. Please ensure that all the required (mandatory if marked as *) information in the application form is correctly filled up; finger prints and signature are confined within the specified boxes of the application form (signature and thumbprints must be in black ink and within the box without touching any border/s) and photographs meant for the passport are as per specifications.

Basic suggestions:

Application form must be computer typed (Not filled in with hand). Please note that in the new form there is no square box for each letter after the form is printed on paper.

Do not write Mr./Mrs./ Ms./Dr. etc. in the given name of applicant and Next of Kin. Write middle name (if any) in the given name row unless your existing document/s require otherwise.

Every date row, whether it is English or Nepali, must be written in the format of Year, Month and Day.

Ensure that Place of birth, place of issue etc. is name of the District if inside Nepal and Name of the Country if outside Nepal.

Address of applicant and Next of Kin must be from Nepal (one can change the address within the country, if required)

Do not leave No. 11D and 14F blank (Repeat VDC/Municipality (No. 11B/14D) if no name available for town/village)

(Above is the basic information only, please refer to Sample/Check list and MRP print Option for more details)
